Halloween Hijinks at Boggs Funny Farm: When Chickens Ruled the Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Patch Poultry Panic: A Halloween Hen House Hijinks

October had barely crept in before the hens at Boggs Funny Farm decided Halloween was theirs to run. Forget trick-or-treaters—this year, the pumpkin patch was swarming with feathery chaos.

Henry the donkey had already made his grand entrance, braying dramatically at every carved pumpkin, convinced each one contained a trapped soul. Meanwhile, the chickens were on a sugar high, even though no one could figure out how they’d gotten into the candy corn.

Inside the coop, feathers flew like confetti at a haunted hayride. One bold hen tried on a witch hat, another stuffed herself into a jack-o’-lantern like it was a VIP lounge, and a third strutted across the barnyard pretending to be a vampire bat. By the time the rooster crowed, it wasn’t morning—it was the opening scene of a Halloween comedy show.

And then came the “Great Pumpkin Chase.” The hens knocked a massive pumpkin off the wagon, and it began rolling downhill. What followed looked like a mash-up of Hocus Pocus and a Benny Hill sketch: chickens flapping, Henry braying, the farmer sprinting in rubber boots. The pumpkin barreled past the scarecrow, through the fence, and nearly into the pond before Henry finally stopped it—by sitting on it.

The night ended with the whole flock perched around glowing jack-o’-lanterns, clucking spooky tales of the “ghostly owl” (aka the barn cat with a sheet stuck on her head). It wasn’t a traditional Halloween, but at the Boggs Funny Farm, it was unforgettable.
