The Aftermath of the Accident

The bus accident, which occurred as the bus was turning onto the Hamilton Highway from Friend in Hand Road, involved a total of 28 students ranging from Years 7 to 12. The impact was devastating. While Milla tragically succumbed to her injuries, a 16-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Nine other students, along with the 76-year-old bus driver, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment at the hospital. A further 14 students were admitted for observation.

The bus rolled on the Hamilton Hwy in Stonehaven near Geelong.

The authorities are currently undertaking a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident. Several factors are being examined, including potential mechanical issues with the bus, the driver’s speed, and the possibility of driver impairment. The bus driver has been interviewed and released pending further inquiries. The truth surrounding this tragic event is still being pieced together.
