It all started with an Instagram message that seemed innocent enough. Kailyn Lowry, the Teen Mom star, had posted about taking a break from her busy life to enjoy some outdoor fun, and I thought, “Why not reach out and join in?” Little did I know that what would start as a simple crabbing trip would turn into one of the wildest adventures I’d ever had.

The plan was straightforward—Kailyn and I would head to a secluded beach on the East Coast, famous for its pristine shores and abundant marine life. We were going crabbing. Nothing too fancy, just a fun day in nature to unwind. I’d never been crabbing before, but I figured it couldn’t be that hard, right?

After about an hour of waiting, it happened. The first trap was pulled up, and there, caught in the net, was the biggest crab I had ever seen. It was a monster, its claws snapping wildly in the air. Kailyn grinned. “This is going to be interesting.”

As we tried to wrangle the crab into the bucket, things got chaotic. The crab escaped its first few attempts at capture, sprinting across the boat like it had somewhere important to be. I dove for it, tripping over the equipment and nearly knocking Kailyn into the water. She laughed so hard I thought she might fall overboard herself. In the chaos, I lost track of the crab, but Kailyn quickly scooped it up and triumphantly dropped it in the bucket.

We caught more crabs after that, and each time, it seemed like the stakes got higher. The crabs were feisty, our attempts at catching them more frantic. At one point, I found myself standing on the edge of the boat, trying to use a net like a pro, but the wind gusted, knocking me off balance. Kailyn, in her usual unflappable way, grabbed my arm just in time to keep me from falling into the chilly waters.

By the end of the day, we had more crabs than we knew what to do with, and my arms were sore from the constant battle. We laughed the entire ride back to shore, reminiscing about all the near-disasters—like the time I tried to jump over the side of the boat to catch a runaway crab and almost ended up in the bay.

In the end, it wasn’t just about the crabs. It was about the memories we created—about laughing until our sides ached, about Kailyn’s sense of humor, and how she made a simple day of crabbing feel like an epic adventure. We’d set out for a peaceful retreat but ended up with a story for the ages.
