Henry’s Winter Wools: Spring is in the Air!
Winter has had Henry bundled up in his fluffy winter coat, and let me tell you—this donkey has been looking like a walking wool blanket with ears. Every morning, he struts out of the barn with his puffed-up fur like he’s ready for a runway show called “Barnyard Couture: The Winter Collection.”
But lately, the sun has been shining just a little longer, the air is carrying that fresh hint of spring, and Henry has caught the vibe. You can see it in his step—less plodding through mud, more “let’s go find adventure.” And of course, spring means one thing for Henry: the great shedding season.
If you’ve never witnessed a donkey in full-blown winter-to-spring transition, imagine a fur explosion. Tufts of Henry’s “winter wools” are flying everywhere—on the fence, on my jacket, probably even on the chickens if they get too close. He loves a good scratch this time of year, leaning into brushes, fence posts, or even me, as if to say: “Help a guy out, will ya?”
And while Henry is saying goodbye to his cozy winter coat, he’s also saying hello to a new season of mischief. With green grass poking through, warmer mornings, and birds singing, his energy is back. He’s trotting around, ears perked, convinced he’s the king of springtime.
So here’s to Henry’s “Winter Wools”—and to all the sunshine, green pastures, and adventures that come with spring in the air. One thing’s for sure: whether he’s fluffy or sleek, Henry always knows how to steal the spotlight.
